Spring into Action to Fight Hunger
Dear Friends of FOCUS,
With spring in the air, we need your continued support, generosity, and love more than ever. We’ve reached new highs in providing meals and services to meet the growing needs in our community. But with rising food prices, economic uncertainty, and cuts to federal funding, your generosity is critical right now.
The need is growing. The Food Pantries for the Capital District’s 2024 Community Impact Numbers Report shows an unsettling trend:
Food insecurity in our region rose by 33% over the last two years, with a 45% increase among children.
Nearly 100,000 people in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties are food insecure, meaning they have no idea where their next meal is coming from.
Between 2023 and 2024 there has been a 52% increase in individuals seeking food pantry assistance.
In 2024, FOCUS experienced a 44% increase in food output at the pantry and we anticipate a similar or greater need for our food pantry services in 2025.
Thus far in 2025, with your support, FOCUS has served:
2,744 guests and provided 5,194 meals at the Breakfast Club
982 households for a total of 43,470 well-balanced and nutritious meals
Of those served at the pantry:
33% were children
11% were individuals over 60
As one guest at the food pantry said,
“Bless you. I might not eat today if not for you folks!”
Together, we can do more! We gratefully ask for your continued, and if possible, increased support so that together, we may move forward with renewed energy and a shared commitment to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. Please make your gift online at focuschurches.net/donate.
In gratitude,
