Community Partnerships Expand What We Can Do Together

When people think of FOCUS, they often picture the Food Pantry or the Breakfast Club. These ministries are important. They are reliable, trusted, and essential.

But they are only part of the story.

Beyond the Basics

What happens at FOCUS goes beyond any single program. It’s more connected, more dynamic, and more than any one effort could achieve on its own.

FOCUS isn’t just a place where services are offered. It’s where partnerships grow and thrive.

Week after week, organizations and volunteers show up not just to serve, but to connect. To listen. To meet people where they are. And in doing so, they expand what care looks like in our community.

Partnerships in Action

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen that impact clearly.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Community Outreach shared how chronic diseases impact overall health. They offered screening for signs/symptoms of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and abnormal A1C levels.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Community Outreach

Recently at the Breakfast Club, guests were invited to participate in health screenings and discuss chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and A1C levels with the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Community Outreach program. Many guests joined in and learned information that could help their long-term health. That day also included Narcan training giving people knowledge that can truly save lives.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Community Outreach came on another day to offer Narcan training.

Living Resources contributions make a real difference and we are so happy to have them participate with us.

Living Resources

Each Monday, a group from Living Resources joins us. They bring energy, care, and purpose to the important everyday tasks that keep things running, like bagging grapes, preparing condiment kits, or rolling silverware. Their help means a lot and is part of what makes FOCUS special.

Mayan and Menvish from the Whitney M. Young Health Center table the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Whitney M. Young Health Center

Twice a month, representatives from Whitney M. Young Health Center connect with approximately a quarter of our guests, offering access to behavioral health services, outpatient treatment and testing, and community programs. These are not abstract resources. They are real pathways to care, offered in a setting where people already feel welcome.

Anna and Sara from the Joseph’s House & Shelter table at our breakfast club every Thursday and cater to approximately 60% of our guests.

Joseph’s House & Shelter

Every Thursday, the team from Joseph’s House & Shelter visits. They share information about housing and support services, and also meet immediate needs with their mobile outreach van. They hand out blankets, hygiene supplies, and other essentials directly to people who need them most.

National Union of the Homeless, Nonviolent Medicaid Army & Poor People’s Campaign

Change takes many voices, and we are grateful to partner with these dedicated advocates. They not only stand alongside and support our neighbors, but also reflect the strength within our own community. Through Joe Paparone’s connection, Bebhinn, who was part of our FOCUS community, participates in this work. Together, the National Union of the Homeless, Nonviolent Medicaid Army, and the Poor People’s Campaign show up at our Breakfast Club to offer support, build relationships, and help move meaningful change forward.

The Impact You Make Possible

This is what sets FOCUS apart.

We can reach more people because others join our mission. We can do more because people trust this space and keep coming back. Our impact is significant because support comes from all sides, financial, relational, and practical.

It is a powerful reminder that no single organization can meet every need. But together, we can do far more than we can alone.

So when you think of FOCUS, think beyond a single program. Imagine a network of care. A place where partnerships multiply impact. A place where your support helps make all of this possible.

Because it does.

Thank you for being part of it.
