Over the years (28+) that the program has been open, one thing has become clear: this “temporary” feeding program is now a necessary one. Some people rely on the FOCUS Breakfast Club Program as their main meal of the day, others seek to relieve crunched budgets by enjoying a free hot meal with us. Still, others relish the opportunity to sit and chat with friends over coffee.
The need for programs like this has been growing. Five years ago, we averaged seventy guests per morning. Difficult economic times have made programs like the FOCUS Breakfast Club more necessary than ever, and there is no sign that this will change any time soon.
Funding for the FOCUS Breakfast Club Program comes from New York State, member church donations, and individual donations. Food is purchased from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY and local suppliers. More than 18,590 meals were served through our breakfast programs last year.

Pastoral staff and volunteers offer a compassionate ear and an open heart to folks attending winter Breakfast Club. Our goal is to provide safe and open opportunities for guests to express themselves, to encourage a pleasant social atmosphere, and to reduce conflict. We also pray with guests who request this comfort. In addition to emotional and spiritual support, FOCUS staff partners with a number of area organizations and agencies to provide practical assistance in obtaining local social and human services, such as housing and health services.
